The Awkward Hill & Monkton Old Hall

The first turning on the right brings you up the Awkward Hill into Monkton.  At its base is Monkton Old Hall of 14th and 15th century construction, although its vaulted crypt or undercroft is considerably earlier.  At the back of the Hall is a prominent round Flemish chimney. The property has been fully restored by the Landmark Trust and is let out as holiday accommodation.

The Hall is thought to have been a guest house for important visitors to the Priory and is one of the oldest domestic buildings in the Wales. It is also supposed to be haunted!
